Handyman visits for homes in Gravesend

If you live in Gravesend and have a handful of jobs that never quite get done, the simplest way to clear them is one planned visit. Danny Morrison of CRF Services Ltd comes over from Rochester, works through the whole list himself and leaves each job finished before moving to the next.

Jobs Gravesend customers book

Enquiries tend to be practical and domestic: things that annoy you every day but are not worth a builder. A typical list mixes a few indoor fixes with something in the garden.

Several of these have their own pages: TV mounting, Shelving and storage fitting, and the wider handyman services overview.

  • Internal doors that stick, rub or will not latch
  • Shelving and alcove shelves fixed securely
  • TV brackets on plasterboard, brick or a chimney breast
  • Tall furniture secured to the wall
  • Kitchen worktop sealant renewed
  • Fence panels refixed or replaced and gates rehung

Flats, lets and tenancy turnarounds

A fifth of homes across Gravesham are flats, and 19.1% are privately rented, so a good share of small job lists in the town come from flats and from landlords between tenancies. Flats bring their own questions about parking, stairs and permitted working hours, which are worth mentioning when you get in touch. Fixings in flat walls are often into plasterboard, so anything heavy goes into the studs or onto proper cavity fixings; the guide to hanging shelves on plasterboard explains why.

In the 1920s houses of King's Farm and the post-war estates, original doors and frames that have moved over the years usually need easing rather than forcing, and garden boundaries are often due for attention.

Grouping a list into one visit

Gravesend is a drive from the Rochester base, so the visit works best when it is worth the journey for both of you. Write everything down, even the jobs that seem too small to mention, and send a photograph of each. From that, Danny can judge whether the list fills a half day or a full day and whether anything has to be bought in first.

On the day, the jobs are done in a sensible order. Anything that involves sealant or filler goes first so it can set, outdoor work is fitted around the weather, and dusty jobs are kept together. The handyman hourly rates guide compares day and hourly booking.

When a job needs a specialist instead

New sockets or lighting circuits need an electrician, anything to do with gas needs a Gas Safe engineer, and changes to a heating or water system are better placed with a plumber. Danny will say so at the quotation stage. The handyman or specialist guide explains where that line usually falls.

Getting to Gravesend from Rochester

The usual route is along the A2 from the Medway side, coming into Gravesend from the south, or along the A226 through Higham and Chalk. Traffic on the A2 and around the town centre varies through the day, so start times are agreed in advance rather than promised to the minute.

Working hours are Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm and Saturday 8am to 1pm. For bigger projects in the town, see the Gravesend area page. Closer to Rochester, the Medway handyman page explains how shorter visits work. Door, trim and storage work is covered on the Gravesend carpenter page. Send your list through the contact page or call 07470 053613.
